The Training Sword

Once a young apprentice smith grew tired of the constant cleaning and polishing and even the sharpening that he needed to do. He looked about for a way to simplify his life and he found it. It is a rarely known fact that hardened jellies work wonderfully to sharpen and clean a blade. Of course his master sets him many tasks, and he has little time to leave the forge and seek out the items he needs. So he stands there, watching the forge in Dundee, and trying to come up with ways to get the items he needs. He can’t slip away for he’s watched carefully by the weapon maker and armorer.

Instead, he has hit upon a cunning plan. He will make swords, thus perfecting his skills and making his master happy enough to perhaps release him from apprenticeship one of these days. The cost for these weapon? It’s not much; he will happily trade with any who stop by with the items he needs to make the rest of his job easier.
