The Mentors Program

Nov 13, 2003 Cory of Admin posted a suggestion to the DG Forums recommending a system of mentors to teach new players. Response was positive and two days later the mentoring program was installed. A slightly OOC program, Mentoring allows established players the ability to meet, greet, and teach new adventurers about the various aspects of the Dark Grimoire.

The mentorship program provides a list of Mentors to New Adventurers and a list of New Adventurers to Mentors allowing those who want help to ask for it and those who want to provide help to offer it. To become a Mentor, a character over level 13 signs a Mentor Registration Form from Lord Registrar Humbold or Scribe Elwin. Only that character becomes a mentor, so other characters on the same players account will not be on the Mentors list. To be removed from the Mentors List one only need use the form again. To qualify as a 'new adventurer' a character must be below level 11 and also belong to a player whom has no other characters above level 10. That is, if a player has a level 11 character and a level 3 character, the level 3 will not appear on the new adventurers list. This is a means to allow only those players who truly are new to the game the ability to see the mentors list and thusly, not falsely incur the benefits of a psuedo Friend's List without paying for Premium access.

A week prior to the introduction of the Mentorship program, Deek released a new version of his New Adventurers Guide, and Cory sponsored it on the mentor list shortly thereafter allowing mentors to send a link to Deek's webpage directly to newbies.
